HERE'S
WHAT FAMILIES SAY
ABOUT TARA WORKSHOPS: |
|

|
| The
TARA NAPD DBT Skills Workshop is not a research program nor is
it affiliated with university programs or research grants. It
is taught by people intensively trained in DBT and is co-taught
by trained family members. It is an intensive and serious course
with much to learn, (think of it as a college course.) Telephone
coaching is available upon conclusion of the course. Here is where
will find the help you need! |
A PARENT OF AN 18 YEAR OLD GIRL WITH A DRUG PROBLEM:
"I always look forward to our classes. It is my sanctuary. You
are a gift and I want to thank you " -Susan
A PARTICIPANT IN THE DC WEEKEND TRAINING:
"The lessons, memories, feelings, skills and hopes from this recent
weekend are with me, I feel so much comfort and reduced isolation.
When I hit a setback or snag, I visualize all of us sitting together
in the circle, feel your support and that you are all rooting for
me, for my daughter, for all of us." -Jane
PARENT OF A 24 YEAR OLD GIRL WITH BPD:
I feel re-energized and resolved to keep reading/ educating myself
and to put into action the principles of DBT, including mindfulness.
With your role-plays, slides, poignant anecdotes and the sharing
among group members, so many points finally clicked with me; I
feel that I am "getting it"; that to let go of the past
and release future "expectations" and to let go of "controlling"
and instead "turn things over" to our daughter, is to really feel
empowered and ultimately be the most helpful. You
have given me tools to speak a new language with our daughter
and for a whole new way of "being". I am so appreciative
of everything I am learning and for how you have jump-started
me out of depression and grieving to informed acceptance and deeper
love. - Mary
A HELPLINE CALLER: I learned
more from you in 15 minutes on the phone than I have in 10 years
of therapy about the illness that has dominated my life…-Margarita
A PARENT OF TWO GIRLS WITH BPD:
"I might be late to our support group tomorrow night. I am having
an early supper with Mery between her connecting flights from
California to Charleston, SC. where she's going to a wedding.
I haven't seen her for a year and a half. We are both looking
forward to it and have you to thank for the difference you have
made in all three of our lives because of what you have taught
me. Mery never would be taking this trip if it weren't for you.
" - Norrene
A PARENT OF A 24 YEAR OLD GIRL: For
who you are - for your genuine passion, commitment, and
follow-through. Your sincerity, devotion and drive are apparent
in everything you do. I am so grateful for your generosity of
spirit and energy in devoting your entire being to helping all
of us ; our children and family members -Kerry.
SINGLE MOTHER OF A 17 YEAR OLD GIRL:
My responsibilities have changed. I am now looking at the possibility
of my changed attitudes and behavior as a way to ultimately help
my daughter-Francine
A HUSBAND OF A WOMAN WITH BPD:
The skills I learned have taught me how to manage my life and
how not to trigger BPD behavior in my wife. This has made a huge
difference and I am grateful to TARA and Valerie….Michael
